The Defence Headquarters has dismissed a viral video purportedly showing the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, making comments suggesting support for partisan politics.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Thursday, the DHQ described the video as fake and clarified that it did not originate from the Chief of Defence Staff.

The military authorities urged the public to disregard the statements attributed to Oluyede in the video, describing them as false.

According to the DHQ, the video was created using artificial intelligence-generated manipulation and was allegedly intended to mislead the public, distort the position of the CDS and damage the reputation of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed the military’s non-partisan stance, stressing that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remains a professional and apolitical institution committed to upholding the Constitution and defending the country.

The DHQ condemned the production and circulation of the manipulated video and warned those responsible, as well as individuals knowingly spreading the material, to desist immediately.

It also advised Nigerians to rely on information released through the military’s official communication channels and disregard the circulating video.
