Controversial Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State over an alleged threat to kill President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
He was remanded on Friday by a Magistrate Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State after being arraigned on three counts bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace, and making threats to kill.
The charges followed a viral video in which DJ Chicken allegedly claimed that President Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027.
Following the backlash over the video, the content creator retracted his statement, describing it as a joke intended to gain popularity.
Despite his apology, DJ Chicken was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges but was granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with two sureties in like sums. One of the sureties must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader with landed property in Lagos State.
The court also ordered that the sureties provide evidence of three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. One of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.
While adjourning the case until August 3, 2026, the court ordered that DJ Chicken remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
