DSS NABS THREE ADDITIONAL SUSPECTS LINKED TO NASARAWA UNIVERSITY DEAN’S ABDUCTION

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested three additional suspects allegedly linked to the abduction of the Dean of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University, Professor Samuel Avengbe Okunsebor.
The suspects were reportedly arrested on Friday night as security operatives intensified investigations into the kidnapping of the university don.
Okunsebor was rescued by DSS operatives two days after he was abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

Two suspects, including a woman, had earlier been arrested in connection with the incident.
A security source said the three additional suspects were apprehended on Friday night at a local brothel along the Mararaban Akunza-Lafia-Makurdi highway.
The source identified the suspects as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar, also known as Black/Starboy, from Doemak community in Plateau State; 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga; and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar.
According to the source, Mairiga and Sale Babauro Abubakar are of Hausa and Fulani backgrounds, respectively.
The suspects are currently being held at the State Command for further investigation following the issuance of a valid detention warrant by a magistrate’s court.
