Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has called on residents to embrace unity, cooperation and collective responsibility in support of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s development agenda.
He stressed that meaningful and sustainable development can only be achieved through collaboration between the government and the people.
Idahosa made the appeal during a thanksgiving service held in honour of the late mother of the Edo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Jerry Uwangue, according to a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo
The thanksgiving service was attended by government officials, political leaders, clerics, family members, friends and other well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the deceased
Idahosa said Edo people must continue to support the policies and programmes of the Okpebholo administration, stressing that meaningful development thrives where there is mutual trust, collaboration and active citizen participation.
He said, “Constructive engagement and collective responsibility, rather than unproductive criticism, are vital to achieving lasting progress, and every resident has a role to play in building a stronger and more prosperous Edo State.
My appeal to residents of the state is that they should embrace unity, cooperation and shared responsibility in support of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s development agenda.”
The deputy governor reaffirmed the commitment of the Okpebholo-led administration to implementing people-oriented policies and impactful projects aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents across the state.
He also urged citizens to remain steadfast in supporting government initiatives while praying for continued peace, stability and sustainable development in Edo State.
Idahosa commended the Uwangue family for honouring their late matriarch with a thanksgiving service, describing the occasion as a befitting tribute to a woman whose life was marked by faith, sacrifice and selfless service.
He noted that beyond mourning loved ones, such occasions provide an opportunity to reflect on enduring values such as love, compassion, unity and peaceful coexistence.
Special prayers were offered during the service for the bereaved family, the Edo State Government and the people of the state, with clerics praying for enduring peace, unity and prosperity.
