Former contestants from various seasons of the Big Brother Naija reality show have credited the platform with transforming their lives and propelling their careers to new heights.

The ex-housemates shared their experiences in separate interviews during the recent birthday celebration of show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu in Lagos.

Ebuka himself acknowledged that Big Brother Naija helped him uncover his potential as a television presenter.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has credited Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) with launching his career in television, saying the reality show changed the course of his life.

“It definitely made me a TV presenter. I was never going to be doing this, it wasn’t part of my plan. I was a lawyer and thought I’d be practicing today. But going into the Big Brother house made me realize I had a talent for speaking. Without BBNaija, I wouldn’t have a career in television today,” he said.

Actress Bisola Aiyeola also acknowledged the show’s impact, stating that while she always believed she would succeed in entertainment, the platform significantly accelerated her rise.

“Big Brother Naija escalated the success I already envisioned. It took me zillions of steps ahead much faster,” she said.

Echoing that sentiment, actor and filmmaker Elozonam said, “Big Brother Naija elevated my brand. It gave me visibility and exposure.”

Former winner Mercy Eke described the show’s impact on her life as transformational:
“Big Brother Naija changed me, changed my brand, changed my whole existence. I think you can see it right here,” she said.

Actor Gideon Okeke shared a more personal reflection, saying the show helped him escape a life of hardship:
“Big Brother Naija brought me out to the world. Now people know who I am. Otherwise, I’d still be in the ghetto.”

TV host KimOprah also praised the platform:
“BBNaija is an amazing platform; it puts you on the global stage. Honestly, from there, the only way is up.”
