The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has received two ambulifts for deployment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as part of efforts to improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.

FAAN disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Thursday.

The authority said the ambulifts would assist passengers who require additional support while boarding or disembarking from aircraft.

According to FAAN, the equipment would help ensure that passengers with mobility challenges receive safe, efficient and dignified assistance throughout their journey.

“The addition of the ambulifts is aimed at providing the necessary assistance to passengers who may require additional support when boarding or disembarking aircraft, ensuring they receive dignified, safe and efficient care throughout their journey,” the authority said.

FAAN added that the keys to the two ambulifts were formally handed over to NACHO Aviation Services by the Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood.

The agency said NACHO Aviation Services would oversee the deployment and operation of the ambulifts at the airport.

FAAN explained that the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen passenger facilitation services and enhance the overall travel experience at Nigerian airports.

“The initiative underscores FAAN’s commitment to strengthening passenger facilitation services and ensuring that every passenger, regardless of mobility limitations, receives the support and assistance they deserve,” the authority said.
