FAMILY ANNOUNCES FIDAU, ARTISTS’ DAY FOR LATE ACTOR OGOGO

The family of late Nollywood veteran, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced plans for the completion of his burial rites.

Ogogo, who died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026, was buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, in accordance with Islamic rites.

In a statement shared on Facebook by veteran actor Jide Kosoko on behalf of the family, the eighth-day Fidau prayer for the deceased will be held on Monday, August 31, in Ilaro.

The family also announced an Artists’ Day to honour Ogogo, scheduled to take place 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.

According to Kosoko, the event will feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers celebrating the life and legacy of the late actor.

The programme will be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

The family expressed appreciation to Ogogo’s colleagues, friends, fans and well-wishers who attended his burial and urged them to continue supporting the family and joining in prayers for the deceased.

Ogogo began his acting career in the early 1980s and became a prominent figure in Yoruba-language cinema as an actor, producer and filmmaker.
