Ayodele Fayose, who used to be the governor of Ekiti state, visited Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at his palace in Ibadan. Ibadan is the capital city of Oyo state. He made this visit a few days after he said that Seyi Makinde, the current governor of Oyo, is trying to remove the monarch‘s position.

It was not immediately clear what the former governor discussed with the Olubadan, as the palace has yet to issue an official statement on the visit.

On Sunday, a former governor of Ekiti shared a post on X, saying that the process to remove Ladoja as Olubadan would start with a request from the state government. Fayose said the reason for this request would be because the monarch was not present during the coronation of the high chiefs in Ibadan.
“I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja,” he wrote.
The Oyo state government and Ladoja had since dismissed the allegations.Speaking with journalists after the visit, Fayose said he came to Ibadan to “identify” with the monarch following allegations surrounding his possible removal.

The former governor asked Makinde to tread cautiously in the final days of his tenure to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Fayose also advised the governor to learn from how his predecessors generated “issues” in their last days in office.

“I came to identify with him (Ladoja) because the latest issue came when I made a revelation on what I heard in Oyo state,” Fayose said.

“Nobody in this country has ever said what Fayose said has been contradicted by his new actions over time.

“So, whatever I say, is either I have the right information from the source or I’m privy one way or the other to certain activities.”
