FCT POLICE RECOVER TWO RIFLES, AMMUNITION FROM SUSPECTED BANDITS’ HIDEOUT

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi states.
The operation followed further investigations into the arrest of four suspects allegedly involved in supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandit groups.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, disclosed in a statement that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the raid on August 2 after receiving credible intelligence from one of the arrested suspects, identified as Musbahu Ishaq.
According to Adeh, the information led security operatives to the forest, where the criminal syndicate was believed to have maintained one of its hideouts.
“Further investigation established that Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to one Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State,” the statement read.
She said a search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of the two rifles and live ammunition allegedly concealed in the forest.
Adeh added that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate, recover more weapons linked to the group and ensure that all suspects are prosecuted.
Reacting to the development, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations until all members of the syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice.
“The command remains committed to intelligence-led policing, and ongoing operations will continue until all members of the syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice,” the statement added.
The police urged residents to continue supporting security efforts by providing timely and credible information to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency communication channels.
