The Federal Government, in partnership with Siemens Energy and the German development agency, GIZ, has commenced applications for a free Solar Photovoltaic Installation Training programme for professionals, technicians and young Nigerians interested in renewable energy careers.
The training is being organised under the Siemens Energy Education and Development project, known as SEED, with support from the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance initiative co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ.
According to a notice shared by FGN Power Company on Wednesday, the programme will feature classroom-based instruction, practical hands-on training, technical site visits and competency assessments.
Successful participants who complete the programme will also receive certification from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
The organisers said the training is open to applicants with practical experience as well as those without formal education or previous hands-on experience.
Recent graduates with National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and individuals interested in renewable energy are also encouraged to apply.
However, applicants must be available to participate physically in the three-week training programme.
HOW TO APPLY
Interested applicants are required to complete an online Expression of Interest form on or before 4pm on Friday, September 18, 2026.
Applicants will be required to provide their full names, gender, telephone numbers, email addresses and preferred training locations.
They must also confirm their availability to attend the three-week onsite training scheduled to commence in September 2026.
The application process also requires candidates to provide details of their educational and professional backgrounds, including their highest educational qualification, employment status, work experience and employment sector.
Applicants with formal educational backgrounds are expected to upload their latest CVs and degree certificates or other relevant academic and professional qualifications.
The training will be conducted at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each training stream lasting three weeks and taking place physically at the designated centres.
The organisers said both the training and certification would be provided at no cost to participants.
They added that meals would also be provided to participants on training days.
The initiative is aimed at expanding access to technical skills in renewable energy and creating opportunities for more Nigerians to build careers in the growing solar and clean-energy sector.
