GOV ENO VOWS SUPPORT FOR EMMANSON AND IBOM AIR AFTER LAGOS AIRPORT SAGA

BY OWOLABI OLUWADARA
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has declared his commitment to support Ms. Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger whose recent disagreement with crew members ignited controversy within the aviation industry.
Emmanson, a resident of Akwa Ibom State, was brought before the court and briefly detained before receiving a reprieve from the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo. She was also temporarily placed on a no-fly list by the airline, a restriction that was subsequently lifted.
During a grand reception held in his honor at his local government area of Nsit Ubium, Governor Eno expressed that the proposed support would not only encompass Emmanson but would also extend to Ibom Air, which is entirely owned by the Akwa Ibom State government. However, he did not specify the nature of the assistance.
The governor encouraged citizens to refrain from assigning blame to either party, emphasizing that both the airline and the passenger “belong to Akwa Ibom State” and should be treated with empathy.
“We will continue to support our flagship airline, Ibom Air. Every citizen of Akwa Ibom should take pride in the airline, which has represented our interests. Our resources are invested in Ibom Air, so there is reason for pride.
If any crisis arose, do not engage with individuals who disrupt progress because they do not appreciate excellence. Whatever occurred, we will address the issue. It was a minor misstep. Both parties are ours. The woman is our daughter. When individuals are at odds, there is often a third party who intervenes. ”
Emmanson previously informed reporters that the incident left her feeling traumatized, describing how it led her to become withdrawn and less capable of engaging freely with others following her experience, which she felt subjected her to undue public scrutiny.
