GUNMEN STORM KWARA COMMUNITY, KIDNAP ONE

Armed bandits on Thursday attacked Lata Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting a resident in the latest incident to heighten security concerns in the area.

The victim, identified as Mohammed Abubakar Ndapkada, was kidnapped during the attack, which reportedly occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., according to community sources.

Sources told NupekoTV that shortly after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted members of the community to confirm that Mohammed was in their custody and allowed him to briefly speak with his brother.

During the conversation, Mohammed reportedly said he had been blindfolded and had no idea where he was being held.

As of the time of filing this report, the abductors had not demanded a ransom or stated any conditions for his release.

The attack comes just weeks after security operatives successfully repelled a similar assault on the same community, highlighting the persistent threat posed by armed bandits in Patigi Local Government Area.

Concerned residents have again appealed to the Kwara State Government, the Federal Government, and security agencies to intensify security operations in the area and secure the victim’s safe release.

The community has repeatedly raised concerns over the deteriorating security situation, sending distress messages to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and making several public appeals for increased military deployment and sustained security intervention in Lata Nna and neighbouring communities.

Residents warned that unless urgent measures are taken, more communities in the area could remain exposed to repeated attacks by armed bandits.
