Guinness World Record-holding Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, has unveiled plans to cook what she describes as the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice.
In an announcement on Instagram on Friday, the celebrity chef revealed that the historic cooking event will take place on September 12, 2025, in partnership with seasoning and culinary brand, Gino.
According to Baci, the cooking feat will feature a giant pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall.
“Almost two years ago, I had the dream to cook the largest pot of Jollof rice ever made. And now, with GinoNaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive,” she wrote. “Six metres wide. Six metres tall. September 12, we make history together. Because what is Jollof without you to share it with?”
In an accompanying video, the chef — who rose to international fame after her record-breaking 100-hour Cook-a-thon in 2023 described the challenge as more than just a cooking experiment, but a cultural celebration of food, music, and Nigerian heritage.
“This year, it’s Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa. A taste that tells our story. It’s more than cooking. It’s a celebration of our food, our culture, music, and us,” she said.
Hilda Baci first made headlines in May 2023, when she completed a cooking marathon in Lagos that earned her global recognition through the Guinness World Records.
