IGBOHO RESISTS POLICE ATTEMPT TO ARREST TANI OLOHUN IN OYO

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, reportedly resisted an attempt by the police to arrest Isese advocate Abdulazeez Adegbola, also known as Tani Olohun, in Oyo State on Tuesday.

Videos shared on Tani Olohun’s Facebook page showed a confrontation between residents and police officers who arrived at the scene to arrest him.

In one of the videos, a police officer was seen holding Olohun to the ground as residents gathered around the scene.

During the attempted arrest, a resident also alleged that the vehicle used by the police officers had no number plate.

As the situation reportedly escalated, members of Olohun’s family contacted Igboho for assistance. He subsequently arrived at the scene with some supporters.

In another video, Igboho was seen speaking with an alleged senior police official over the telephone while surrounded by residents and supporters.

Igboho reportedly warned that the presence of the officers could lead to a confrontation, saying four policemen were at the scene.

He later handed the phone to one of the officers at the request of the person on the other end of the call.

When contacted, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident but declined to provide further details.

“I don’t have a comment. A press release is coming soon,” the police spokesperson said.

The police command is expected to provide further clarification on the circumstances surrounding the attempted arrest.
