The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 general election available online following concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders over access to the document.

The commission announced this in a statement issued on Monday by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.

According to INEC, the online publication will complement the physical display of the register conducted nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.

The commission said the physical exercise allowed registered voters to inspect their particulars and submit claims and objections as provided by law.

It noted that it had taken cognisance of concerns about the need to make the register accessible through its online platform in addition to the physical display already conducted.

INEC said the preliminary register could now be accessed through its dedicated portal, display.inecnigeria.org.

The commission explained that the additional measure was intended to broaden public access to the register and strengthen transparency and confidence in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, INEC said it was continuing to process claims and objections arising from the exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters on December 15, 2026.

The commission appreciated the continued interest and engagement of Nigerians and other stakeholders, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, towards delivering credible elections.
