The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday presented a Certificate of Return to Kamilu Sa’idu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected member representing Kaura Namoda South Constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
The presentation, which took place at the INEC office in Gusau, followed a rerun election held on Thursday in five polling units across two registration areas. The rerun became necessary after the commission declared the August 16 by-election inconclusive due to alleged irregularities in some affected polling units.
Presenting the certificate, Zamfara Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mahammud Isah, described the process as free, fair, and credible, commending stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to democratic values. He urged the lawmaker-elect to focus on delivering meaningful development to his constituency and the state.
APC State Chairman, Alhaji Danfulani Maikatako, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of INEC and security operatives during the by-election and rerun. He said the victory reflected the party’s acceptance in Zamfara, assuring supporters that the APC was working to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Sa’idu appreciated the party leadership and supporters for entrusting him with their mandate. He pledged to leverage his experience to bring development to Kaura Namoda South Constituency and contribute to the growth of the state.
