INEC PRESENTS CERTIFICATES OF RETURN TO WINNERS OF AUGUST 16 BY-ELECTIONS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives who emerged victorious in the by-elections conducted on August 16, 2025.

The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday at INEC headquarters in Abuja, where the certificates were handed over by different National Commissioners of the Commission.

Among the recipients were Emmanuel Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), elected senator for Anambra South, and Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won the Edo Central Senatorial District.

INEC also presented certificates to five newly elected members of the House of Representatives. They include:

Barr. Omosede Igbinedion (APC), Ovie North East and Ovie South West Federal Constituency, Edo State;

Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki (APC), Babura/Garki Federal Constituency, Jigawa State;

Fidelix Bagudu (APC), Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State;

Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji (APC), Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Ogun State;

Fola Oyekunle (PDP), Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to credible elections and transparent processes, stressing that the issuance of the Certificates of Return formally validates the mandate given to the winners by the electorate.
