INEC URGES ELIGIBLE NIGERIANS TO COMPLETE CVR AS REGISTRATION ENDS TODAY

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will conclude today, urging eligible Nigerians to register or update their voter details before the deadline.
In a post on X, the electoral body said the exercise covers new voter registration, transfer of voter registration, correction of personal information and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count,” INEC stated.

“Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, July 26, 2026.”
The commission advised eligible citizens to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any INEC state or local government office before the exercise closes, stressing that registration is compulsory for those who intend to participate in the 2027 general election.
INEC had earlier extended the nationwide registration exercise by two weeks in July to allow more eligible Nigerians to register ahead of the polls.
The first phase of the CVR began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration later that month. By December, the commission had recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 physical registrations.
The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17, during which 3,748,704 additional registrations were completed nationwide, while the third and final phase commenced in May and ends today.
