The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has called on the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to ensure a hitch-free and timely airlift of intending pilgrims for the forthcoming Hajj.
The appeal was made during a visit by a delegation from NAHCON to Kano, according to a statement issued by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi.
Director-General of the board, Abubakar Matawalle, said the state had concluded all necessary preparations for its intending pilgrims and emphasised the need to avoid delays once the airlift begins.
“We have finalised all arrangements for our intending pilgrims and expect that there will be no unnecessary delays from air carriers when the airlift begins,” Matawalle stated.
Earlier, the leader of the NAHCON delegation and Commissioner for the North-West, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Usman, explained that the visit was part of efforts to assess the level of preparedness of states ahead of the exercise.
He noted that the team had toured several states within the zone to evaluate facilities and ensure readiness for the pilgrimage.
Usman assured that issues raised by the board would be conveyed to the commission’s headquarters for prompt attention.
Also speaking, the NAHCON Zonal Director for Kano, Ahmad Muhammad Kalgo, commended the board for its level of preparedness and urged it to sustain public sensitisation programmes for intending pilgrims.
