Police in Kebbi State have arrested 12 suspected criminals, including alleged members of the Lakurawa, Mamudawa, and Boko Haram groups, over offences ranging from terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery to illegal possession of firearms.

The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, Umar Hadejia, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, saying the suspects are currently in custody and will be prosecuted after investigations are completed.

Among those arrested are three suspected members of the Mamudawa and Boko Haram groups, identified as Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammadu Abubakar.

Hadejia said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to movements around Illo on June 4, 2026, during which an attack led to the killing of three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

In a separate development, police arrested Murtala Sani of Zazzagawa village for allegedly supplying food and drinks to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.

Operatives also apprehended Faruku Muhammed over the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl.

The police commissioner said the command has intensified patrols and deployed tactical teams across identified flashpoints in the state to strengthen security and protect residents.
