The Lagos State Government has announced its complete readiness to host the upcoming international boat race, assuring both participants and local residents of sufficient safety on the waterways.

Emmanuel Oluwadamilola, the General Manager of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), stated on Friday that the state has significantly invested over the years in safety infrastructure to safeguard its waterways.

He elaborated that Lagos has consistently improved its facilities, establishing itself as the most secure state for water transportation in Nigeria, with all essential safety infrastructure in place.

Oluwadimilola noted that patrol boats had been deployed, and collaboration with the Marine Police and the Nigerian Navy would ensure effective monitoring of the waterways.

He further indicated that Lagos now operates a control center utilizing advanced technology to oversee the waterways, characterizing this as an opportune moment to host such an event.

He also mentioned that the government had undertaken shoreline cleaning, supplied security boats, and designated docking areas for vessels participating in the competition.“We are delighted this race can now happen in Lagos, proving the state’s readiness and capacity to successfully host such an international event,” he said.
