LASU STUDENT DIES IN LAGOS ROAD CRASH, DRIVER ARRESTED

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a driver following a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a Lagos State University (LASU) student in the Igando area of Lagos State.

The Command confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official X handle on Saturday night, noting that an investigation is ongoing.

According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Igando promptly responded to a distress call and visited the scene of the crash.

Preliminary reports revealed that the victim, a female student identified as Azeezat, sustained fatal injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene. Her body has been deposited in a mortuary.

The police added that the driver allegedly involved in the accident has been taken into custody, while the vehicle has also been impounded as part of ongoing investigations.

The case has since been transferred to the Area Command for further investigation and appropriate legal action.

The command assured residents that due diligence would be followed and appropriate action taken in line with the law.

It also appealed to members of the public to remain calm as investigations continue.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, when the victim was struck by a vehicle in the Igando area.
