MAN UNITED SUFFER 3-0 HOME DEFEAT TO BOURNEMOUTH AS CARRICK FACES PRESSURE
Agency Report

Manchester United suffered another setback on Sunday after a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth intensified pressure on manager Michael Carrick and raised fresh questions about his future at the club.
The defeat extended United’s winless run to eight games and left them 16th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone.
Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson secured a convincing victory for Bournemouth, managed by Marco Rose, who recorded a 3-0 win at Old Trafford for the third time in four seasons.
Carrick’s decision to leave captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench throughout the match drew attention, particularly after the midfielder had reportedly criticised the manager’s tactics following United’s 4-1 defeat to Champions League debutants Como on Wednesday.
Carrick insisted that the decision to drop Fernandes was based purely on footballing considerations, although the midfielder’s omission for the entire game fuelled speculation that the move was disciplinary.
Bournemouth supporters taunted Carrick with chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” as United struggled to respond to their opponents.
The result also raised questions about whether another managerial change would address the club’s broader problems, following its decline since former manager Alex Ferguson retired 13 years ago.
United had finished third in the Premier League last season after a strong run during Carrick’s interim spell in charge, although the absence of European and domestic cup commitments helped their campaign.
The club had managed just two victories in 12 matches across all competitions this season, against newly promoted Ipswich and Azerbaijani side Sabah, according to the report.
Bournemouth, who began the day below United in the table after a difficult start under Rose, followed up their 3-0 victory over AC Milan three days earlier with another impressive performance against a major European club.
Rayan opened the scoring in the 38th minute, connecting with Justin Kluivert’s free-kick to put the visitors ahead.

Five minutes later, United defender Leny Yoro stumbled under pressure from Adrien Truffert, allowing the Bournemouth full-back to square the ball for Tavernier to tap into an empty net.
Despite expectations that Fernandes would return for the second half, the captain remained on the bench as United continued to struggle.
Evanilson initially had a goal ruled out for offside within the first minute after the restart.
Bournemouth continued to threaten, with United goalkeeper Senne Lammens denying Rayan before the Brazilian winger fired wide after getting past Lisandro Martínez.
Evanilson eventually sealed the victory with 20 minutes remaining, rounding Lammens before curling an impressive finish into the net from a tight angle.
As frustration grew among the home supporters, chants were directed at United’s unpopular owners, the Glazer family, during the closing stages.
Carrick applauded the Stretford End and touched his chest as he headed down the tunnel at the end of another disappointing afternoon for the 20-time English champions.
The defeat leaves United facing mounting pressure to arrest their poor run of form, with Carrick’s position increasingly under scrutiny.
