NAIRA EXTENDS GAINS, APPRECIATES TO N1,343.32/$

The naira strengthened further against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday, gaining N6.22 in a single trading day.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira appreciated to N1,343.32 per dollar from N1,349.54 recorded on Monday.
At the parallel market, however, the naira remained unchanged at N1,405 per dollar, maintaining the previous day’s rate.
The mixed performance across the two foreign exchange markets came as Nigeria’s external reserves stood at $52.32 billion as of August 17, 2026.
The latest gain continues the naira’s positive run at the official market, following its appreciation against the dollar at the start of the week.
Over two consecutive trading sessions, the naira has gained a combined N14.29 against the US dollar at the official market.
