Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Kayode Are, has formally presented his Letter of Credence to US President Donald Trump at the White House.
The development was disclosed on Sunday by Reno Omokri, Ambassador-designate to Mexico, via his official X account.
Omokri wrote: “Hearty congratulations to my friend, His Excellency, Colonel Kayode Are (Rtd), Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States of America, who has presented his Letters of Credence to President @realDonaldTrump following his appointment to the US by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, January 22, 2026.”
After his sterling military career, followed by his unblemished service to Nigeria as Director General of the Department of State Services and National Security Adviser, it is certain that Nigeria will be brilliantly represented by this specimen of the highest epitome of what it is to be an officer and a gentleman.
“I also acknowledge and celebrate the fact that you displayed Nigeria’s culture and projected our nation’s soft power by dressing in an elegant and flawless Aṣọ òkè ensemble. This, to me, is quite exemplary and celebratory, as I have dedicated much of my life to promoting authentically made-in-Nigeria clothing and fashion.
“My family and I congratulate Ambassador Are, and I personally extend my warmest regards and support to this exceptional patriot,” he stated.
