NIPSS CONFIRMS SECURITY INCIDENT NEAR KURU CAMPUS, SAYS SITUATION UNDER CONTROL

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, has confirmed a security incident that occurred in the vicinity of the institute in the early hours of Monday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, signed by the Head of Public Affairs Department, Dr. Osime Samuel, the institute said “a security incident occurred in the vicinity of the Institute in the early hours of today,” adding that “the situation was promptly brought under control through the swift response of security personnel and relevant security agencies.”
He further stated that “there is currently no threat to the safety of participants, staff, residents, or facilities of the Institute,” noting that normal activities are continuing as scheduled.
According to the statement, security agencies have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
NIPSS said it would be “premature to speculate on the nature, scope, or outcome of the event,” adding that it cannot confirm details currently circulating on social media and other unofficial platforms.
The institute urged members of the public and the media to rely only on verified information from official sources, stressing that it is working closely with relevant authorities and will provide updates as they become available.
It reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of its community and commended the swift response of security agencies, assuring that further information will be communicated in due course.
