OSUN POLICE ARREST MAN OVER ALLEGED MURDER OF MOTHER

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Taye Kasali in connection with the alleged killing of his mother, Kudirat Kasali, in Bode-Osi, Osun State.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly killed his mother before burying her remains in a shallow grave on the family farm.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Ojelabi said the incident came to light on September 1, 2026, when a report was made at the Bode-Osi Police Division that Kudirat and her son, Taye, were missing.
He said police operatives subsequently launched an investigation and, acting on intelligence, arrested Taye on September 7 in connection with the case.
According to the PPRO, the suspect was interrogated and allegedly confessed to killing his mother.
Ojelabi said the suspect claimed that his mother had repeatedly referred to him as mentally unstable and had also threatened to lease out the family’s farmland, which he described as the family’s main source of livelihood.
The police said Kasali allegedly told investigators that he killed his mother on August 31, 2026, by slitting her throat with a machete before burying her body in a shallow grave on the farm.
During the investigation, the suspect reportedly led police officers to the location where the body had been buried.
The deceased’s remains were subsequently recovered from the grave, alongside the machete allegedly used in the attack.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Zungura, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case.
The command said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
Zungura assured the public that the police would ensure that justice was served in accordance with the law.
The command also urged residents to promptly report missing persons and suspicious activities to the police or other relevant security agencies and provide useful information that could assist investigations.
