OYO 2027: MAKINDE ACCUSES ALLI OF SPREADING MISLEADING CLAIMS

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, of attempting to create tension among residents through what he described as misleading statements.
Makinde made the allegation in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and made available to the media on Tuesday evening.
The governor was reacting to allegations by Alli that his administration was planning to sell some government-owned lands to private developers.
Alli had earlier raised concerns over the alleged sale of public land, urging Makinde to stop allocating government properties to private individuals and developers.
The APC candidate’s allegations were contained in a statement signed by the Director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele.
However, Makinde dismissed the claims, accusing Alli of making unverified statements capable of causing unnecessary anxiety among residents of the state.
The governor maintained that his administration’s decisions were guided by the law and urged the APC candidate to desist from raising what he described as false alarms.
He warned that spreading unverified claims could heighten tension in the state, insisting that his government had neither taken any secret decision nor acted outside the law regarding the matter.
Makinde said, “It is designed to create unnecessary anxiety among residents of Oyo State over a matter on which the government has neither taken any secret decision nor acted outside the law.”
Makinde’s second term as governor is expected to end in May 2027.
