Vice President Kashim Shettima has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, claiming that he has little to offer Nigerians beyond citing statistics.

Shettima made the remarks at an event in Abuja on Monday, where he defended the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Vice President, however, acknowledged Obi’s willingness to state that he would not restore the petrol subsidy if elected president.

He argued that the Tinubu administration was taking difficult but necessary steps to revive the Nigerian economy, while accusing Obi of criticising the government without presenting practical solutions.

“I respect Peter Obi for having the courage to say he’s not going to restore the petrol subsidy, but beyond spouting some statistics, Mr Peter Obi has absolutely nothing to offer,” Shettima said.

The Vice President’s comments have sparked reactions on social media, with supporters of Obi, popularly known as Obidients, defending the former Anambra State governor and criticising Shettima over his remarks.
