Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has arrived at the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri, Anambra State, for an official visit to the state.

The First Lady was received at the airport on Thursday by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, and other top government officials.

Soludo and his wife welcomed Tinubu and members of her delegation at the airport tarmac before proceeding with the official protocol for her visit.

The visit is expected to feature the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East Zone and the commissioning of an Information and Communication Technology Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

The National Community Food Bank Programme is an initiative of the First Lady aimed at addressing malnutrition among vulnerable women and children across the country.

The Director of the South-East Zone, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Samuel Obasi, said the programme was being implemented in collaboration with the agency and partners across the various geopolitical zones.

Obasi said the food bank, which is expected to be established at the Amawbia Primary Health Centre, would serve Anambra Central Senatorial District while also supporting centres in Anambra South and North.

He explained that the programme targets children and women identified with moderate or severe acute malnutrition.
