POLICE ARREST SEVEN OVER N20.45M THEFT FROM COMMERCIAL SHOP IN ONDO

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with the theft of goods valued at ₦20.45 million from a commercial shop in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The command disclosed that three of the suspects were employees of the affected shop, while the remaining four were alleged to have received the stolen items.
Those arrested include Oyineke Joseph, a storekeeper; Abioye Yusuf, a computer operator; Abdullahi Quadir; and alleged receivers, Michael Njoku, Agu Monday and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin. A driver identified as Ojewuyi was also implicated in the operation.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh.
According to the statement, the case was reported to the police on January 3, 2026, by the shop owner, Ogunyomi Segun, who alleged that some of his employees had been stealing goods from his store over a prolonged period, between 2024 and January 3, 2026.
Jimoh said the stolen items included assorted soft drinks, Trophy cans and other canned beverages, with an estimated total value of ₦20.45 million.
“In a decisive crackdown on economic and financial crimes, the Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with a conspiracy and stealing case involving goods valued at ₦20.45 million,” the statement read.
He added that investigations revealed that all the suspects confessed to the crime and gave detailed accounts of the roles they played in the theft.
The police spokesperson stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Jimoh urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities, reiterating the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal activities and ensuring that offenders face the full weight of the law.
