The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four residents of Akpoha Autonomous Community in Afikpo Local Government Area.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped on July 24 while working on their farms by unknown assailants.

Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, disclosed on Thursday that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Afikpo Division had visited the scene of the incident to gather preliminary details.

“When I called the DPO to confirm the information, he told me that they had visited the scene of the incident to ascertain what had happened and to find out more about the situation,” Ukandu said.

He added that an investigation has commenced, with police working closely with local community and traditional leaders to uncover the motive behind the abductions and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

“The command will reveal more details when the investigation is concluded on the matter,” he said.
