The Presidency has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) over its newly unveiled National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing its membership as being dominated by content creators.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, made the remark in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday.

Bwala took a swipe at the list, which features former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson as chairman and Peter Obi as co-chairman and presidential candidate, alleging that the party had filled its campaign council with social media content creators.

He also accused Obi and the NDC of deliberately avoiding the inclusion of their media surrogates in the mainstream media, whom he claimed were operating under the guise of on-air personalities (OAPs).

In his words, “Peter Obi and NDC have released their list of campaign council members; and as expected it is filled with content creators.

“They stylishly refused to name their campaign media surrogates in the mainstream media masquerading as OAP.”

Bwala’s comments came hours after the NDC announced the composition of its National Campaign Council as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.

Under the arrangement, Dickson was named chairman, while Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, was appointed co-chairman.

Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe was named vice chairman, while former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso was appointed co-vice chairman and vice-presidential candidate.

The latest criticism reflects the Presidency’s recurring attacks on Obi, whom it has repeatedly described as a “content creation candidate.”

The Presidency has previously accused the former Anambra State governor of relying on social media content creators, particularly following the departure of prominent political figures, including Kenneth Okonkwo and Valentine Ozigbo, from his political camp.

However, Bwala’s latest remarks were directed at the composition of the NDC’s campaign council and its choice of media representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
