Rangers International have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after suffering a 3-0 defeat to MC Alger in the second leg of their second preliminary-round tie.

The Algerian club overturned a two-goal deficit from the first leg to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory and advance to the group stage.

Rangers started the encounter with determination, but goalkeeper Destiny Abuchi was called into action several times in the first half, making crucial saves to keep the hosts at bay.

MC Alger eventually broke the deadlock in the 58th minute through Chahreddine Boukholda, giving the home side renewed hope of overturning the deficit.

Rangers appeared to retain their aggregate advantage when Abuchi saved Mohamed Bangoura’s penalty in the 70th minute.

However, Bangoura made amends six minutes from full time, scoring to draw the tie level on aggregate and put MC Alger firmly back in contention.

The hosts completed their comeback in stoppage time when Soufiane Bayazid found the net, securing a 3-0 victory on the night and a 3-2 aggregate triumph.

The defeat ended Rangers International’s campaign in the competition, while MC Alger advanced to the group stage.
