The streaming powerhouse, Spotify, has unveiled its compilation of the ‘Top 5 Female Afrobeats Artists In The Past Year,’ with Nigerian vocalist, Ayra Starr, leading the rankings.
Spotify recognized Ayra Starr as “the pop icon of Afrobeats.”
Grammy-awarded Nigerian artist Tems holds the second position on the list. American-Cameroonian singer, Libianca, is ranked third.
Malian-French sensation Aya Nakamura claimed the fourth position, while British-Nigerian artist Darkoo rounded out the top five.
Surprisingly, South African vocalist Tyla was absent from the list, despite securing all the prominent Afrobeats accolades over the last year.
Additionally, Spotify published the list of Top 5 Afrobeats Artists In Latin America, which featured exclusively Nigerian performers.
Rema occupies the top position, followed by Ayra Starr in second place, while CKay completes the top three.
Burna Boy and Wizkid are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
