TINUBU DESCRIBES HAUSA PEOPLE AS KEY PILLARS OF NIGERIA’S UNITY

President Bola Tinubu has praised the Hausa people for their significant contributions to Nigeria’s unity and development, describing them as “great pillars” of the nation.
Tinubu made the remarks in a message shared on his X handle on Wednesday to mark Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace.
The President noted that the Hausa language had grown significantly over the years, becoming an important means of communication, unity and commerce both in Nigeria and internationally.
He said, “The Hausa people are great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria.
“The Hausa language, without doubt, has flourished and has become a major language of unity and commerce across the world.”
Tinubu congratulated the Hausa community on the occasion, describing the celebration at Daura Palace as significant.
“I congratulate the vast Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace today,” he said.
Hausa Day, also known as World Hausa Day or Ranar Hausa, is observed annually on August 26.
The celebration began as a social media initiative by Nigerian journalist Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari to promote the use of the Hausa language online and highlight its cultural importance.
The observance has since grown into an international celebration across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, although it has yet to receive formal recognition from the United Nations.
Hausa is among Nigeria’s major languages and is widely spoken across Africa. It also ranks among the world’s most widely spoken languages by number of speakers.
