TRADITIONAL RULERS, LG CHAIRMEN COMMEND MAKINDE OVER ROAD PROJECTS

Traditional rulers, local government chairmen and residents of Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas have commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s continued investment in road infrastructure following an inspection of completed and ongoing projects across the two councils.

The inspection tour was led by the Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Oluokun Olusola, and his Oyo West counterpart, Akeem Olukitibi.

They were accompanied by several traditional rulers, including the Oloodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adegboye; the Onisamu of Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyewale Afonja Mukaila; the Alajagba of Oyo, Oba Samuel Odurinde; the Ona-Isokun of Oyo; the Elepe of Iseke, Oba Olufemi Oyekan; the Onimileke of Imileke, Oba Fakayode Alowonle; the Alaaguo of Aguoland, Oba David Oyediran; the Onigbudugbu of Gbudugbu, Oba Salawu Oyeniran; and the Alapa-Ara of Apa-Ara, Oba Tijani Ajeigbe.

The delegation inspected the newly completed asphalt road linking Iseke, Ladindin, Ojongbodu and Isokun, a four-kilometre project connecting Oyo East and Oyo West local government areas. Of the total length, 3.2 kilometres were completed in Oyo East, while 0.8 kilometres were constructed in Oyo West.

Speaking after the inspection in Oyo town, Oyo West Local Government Chairman Akeem Olukitibi praised Governor Makinde for prioritising road development, saying the projects had improved transportation, increased accessibility and stimulated economic activities in several communities.

He also acknowledged the contributions of former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu, describing her support as crucial to the approval and successful execution of the projects.

Oyo East Local Government Chairman Oluokun Olusola also expressed appreciation to the governor, describing the road projects as part of the administration’s broader commitment to improving residents’ welfare.

He listed other infrastructure projects completed by the state government, including the Apaara–Oke Apo Road, Molaba–Balogun Road, Olugbon–Mobolaje Road, Oba Adeyemi Road, Ajagba–Ogeese Road and Kosobo Road, noting that they had enhanced connectivity, boosted commerce and promoted socio-economic development.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Onisamu of Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyeniyi, described Makinde as a visionary leader whose infrastructure initiatives have continued to transform communities. He also commended Monsurat Sunmonu for her commitment to the development of the Oyo Federal Constituency.

The Elepe of Iseke and the Alaaguo of Aguoland also praised the quality of the completed roads, saying they would ease transportation, encourage trade and accelerate economic growth in the benefiting communities.

Project Engineer Adewara Muyiwa of Quickborn Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the project, confirmed that construction had progressed according to schedule and assured residents that the remaining section would be completed in line with approved specifications.
