TRAGEDY ON KANO–KATSINA HIGHWAY: 12 DEAD IN FATAL ROAD CRASH

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has expressed deep sorrow over the death of 12 persons in a fatal road accident along the Kano–Katsina Highway.
The crash occurred on Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. in Gidan Mutum Daya and involved a head-on collision between a trailer and a vehicle operating under a Public–Private Partnership arrangement with the Katsina State Transport Authority.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, it was confirmed that six victims, including the driver, died on the spot, while six others later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The statement added that two injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Katsina General Hospital, while five others with minor injuries have been discharged after treatment.
Governor Radda described the incident as tragic and deeply painful, noting that the state had lost valuable lives under unfortunate circumstances.
He also observed that the crash occurred during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, a sacred period in Islam, making the loss even more distressing for affected families and the wider community.
The governor prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased, asking Allah to grant them Al-Jannah Firdaus and to comfort their families with strength and patience.
He further urged motorists to adhere strictly to road safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies, while extending condolences to the bereaved families and all those affected by the incident.
