VDM THREATENS TO DISRUPT TYLA’S LAGOS SHOW OVER ALLEGED XENOPHOBIA CLAIMS

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called on organisers of South African singer Tyla’s upcoming Lagos concert to cancel the event, citing ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

In a video shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, VDM insisted that the concert should not go ahead, arguing that it would be wrong for the Grammy-winning singer to profit from Nigerian fans while some Nigerians continue to face hostility in South Africa.

“There will be no Tyla concert in Nigeria. It is not happening. This is a warning to the organisers and promoters bringing Tyla to Nigeria. That show is not happening,” he said.

Referring to the legal challenges involving Chidimma Adetshina in South Africa, VDM added, “Not when Chidimma Adetshina is battling deportation in a South African court. Now you want to bring Tyla to Nigeria to sell tickets and make money from Nigerians—the same Nigerians that some South Africans hate so much.”

He further warned that he and others would disrupt the event if it proceeds.

“This is a warning. If you go ahead with the show, we will come to the venue and shut it down,” he said.

His remarks come amid renewed calls by some Nigerians to boycott the concert in protest against reported xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa.

The reaction followed the release of Tyla’s 2026 world tour schedule by her management, which includes a performance in Lagos on December 22, 2026.
