VIDEO: HUSBAND OF RESCUED OYO PRINCIPAL CELEBRATES AT THANKSGIVING SERVICE

The husband of Mrs Rachael Alamu, the principal of Ahoro Esinle School in Oyo State, celebrated his wife’s safe return with a joyful dance during a thanksgiving service following her rescue from kidnappers.
A video shared by Oyo Matters on Sunday showed Professor Alamu rejoicing alongside members of his church congregation during the thanksgiving service in Ogbomoso.
In the footage, the professor danced with fellow worshippers as they sang “Hallelujah” in appreciation of the safe return of his wife and the other victims after spending weeks in captivity.
Mrs Alamu was among the teachers and pupils abducted by gunmen from Ahoro Esinle School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026, before she was later rescued.
The victims spent more than 50 days in captivity before regaining their freedom.
The Federal Government announced their rescue on Friday, with the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, saying security agencies successfully secured the release of all the captives.
On Saturday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde visited the rescued pupils and teachers at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are receiving medical treatment and psychosocial support.
The victims are expected to be formally handed over to the Oyo State Government on Monday before reuniting with their families.
The thanksgiving service in Ogbomoso marked one of the family’s first public celebrations following the principal’s release.
The emotional video has since drawn widespread reactions from Nigerians, many expressing gratitude and relief over the safe return of the victims.
Meanwhile, parents of the rescued schoolchildren have expressed relief over the development, saying they are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to reunite with their children.
