Former England international Theo Walcott has identified Arsenal’s left-wing position as a potential weakness in the club’s Premier League title challenge.

Walcott questioned whether Christos Tzolis can adequately replace the departed Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, expressing doubts over the winger’s performances, particularly in away fixtures.

Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, the former Arsenal forward acknowledged Tzolis’ qualities in training but said they have not consistently translated into competitive matches.

“I appreciate Tzolis’s qualities, but based on my observations in away matches, I have not been particularly impressed. Performing effectively away from home presents considerable difficulty,” Walcott said.

He added that some players perform well at home or in training but struggle to produce the same level when faced with difficult away fixtures.

Walcott suggested Arsenal could consider alternative options on the left wing, particularly players capable of offering greater tactical flexibility and commitment to the team’s objectives.

The former winger also believes Arsenal could have their sights set on UEFA Champions League success this season after missing out on the competition last campaign.

“I believe they are outstanding and possess all the necessary components to maintain their position. However, success will prove challenging, as they will aspire to capture the Champions League title,” he added.

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League following their defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.

The Gunners are three points behind leaders Manchester City, who have won all five of their opening league matches.
