WIKE APPROVES PROMOTION OF 3,592 FCT CIVIL SERVANTS

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The development was announced on Wednesday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, in a statement shared by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Ezeh said the approval demonstrated the FCT Administration’s commitment to staff welfare and career progression in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He disclosed that promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted between July 1 and 3, while junior staff took their examinations on July 10.
The commission chairman commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the successful completion of the exercise.
Ezeh also revealed that the minister had directed the commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted as and when due.
He said the directive reflected the administration’s determination to combine infrastructure development in the FCT with improved staff welfare and opportunities for career advancement.
According to Ezeh, the decision would ensure that civil servants also benefit from the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration.
He commended FCT workers for their peaceful and orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged those eligible for the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.
Ezeh also appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee for its cooperation and support during the exercise.
He advised prospective candidates for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.
