The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Tinubu for consistently supporting the FCT Administration, saying the President has never delayed the release of funds needed to execute projects in the nation’s capital.

Wike made the remarks on Monday during the commissioning of the Body of Benchers Complex in Abuja as part of activities marking Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

The minister expressed appreciation to the President for his unwavering support, noting that timely funding had enabled the FCT Administration to deliver on its mandate.

“We want to thank Mr President for the confidence and opportunity he has given us. He has never abandoned us in terms of releasing funds to enable us carry out our responsibilities,” Wike said.

He also thanked members of the legal profession, including the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, senior advocates, permanent secretaries and other dignitaries, for attending the commissioning ceremony, which formed part of the ongoing inauguration of completed projects in the FCT.

Wike recalled that the project began after a request from a former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Wole Olanipekun Aromolaran (SAN), who informed him that the institution’s existing facility was no longer adequate and appealed for the construction of an annex.

According to the minister, although the annual budget had already been passed at the time, he advised the former chairman to remain hopeful while he sought the President’s intervention.

He said President Tinubu approved the inclusion of the project in a supplementary budget, which was subsequently passed by the National Assembly, making the construction possible.

Wike added that the same supplementary budget also provided funding for a Federal High Court project, but since it was not implemented, the funds were redirected to the construction of roads within the FCT.
