WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER FOUR MEN STABBED IN CENTRAL LONDON

A 47-year-old woman has been arrested after four men were stabbed in London’s Covent Garden on Wednesday in what police described as a suspected mental health-related incident.
The stabbings occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. local time in the busy tourist district, prompting a swift response from officers of the Metropolitan Police.
In a statement, police said the suspect was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assault. She remains in custody, while officers recovered a pair of scissors believed to have been used in the attack.
The four victims, aged 34, 39, 42 and 52, were taken to hospital. Two were later discharged, while the remaining two continue to receive treatment for injuries that police said are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart said investigators currently believe the incident was isolated.
“While still at an early stage of the investigation, we would like to reassure the community that we currently believe this to be an isolated mental health-related incident,” Stewart said.
Witnesses said police used Tasers to subdue the suspect after she allegedly refused to drop the weapon, although authorities have not confirmed whether Tasers were deployed.
A waiter identified only as Ahmad told AFP that officers pursued the woman before bringing her under control.
“I saw the lady get tasered by the police. It was the only way they could get her to drop the knife,” he said.
Another witness, Arjan, said the woman was known to people in the area as a homeless individual who frequently visited the street.
He described the aftermath as chaotic, saying restaurant staff saw victims lying on the ground before emergency responders arrived.
The affected street, lined with shops and outdoor restaurants, was cordoned off for several hours as police carried out investigations. Images from the scene also showed an air ambulance landing in nearby Trafalgar Square to assist emergency responders.
