Argentina confirm final 23-man FIFA World Cup squad with Inter captain Mauro Icardi snubbed

Icardi, 25, finished top scorer in Serie A this season alongside Ciro Immobile with 29 goals but has been overlooked once again by head coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Despite outscoring Sergio Aguero, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain this season, the Inter Milan captain was unable to force himself into the national team reckoning and add to his four caps.
Aguero was said to be a doubt due to his recent injury troubles but Sampaoli confirmed the Citizens record goalscorer has impressed during their training camp thus far.
“Aguero has been working as normal since last week,” Sampaoli told reporters, as quoted by ESPN. “He has worked intensely with us and without any type of issues, which is the most important thing.”
