Roma have reached an agreement with Scottish Premiership side Rangers for the loan of Nigeria U23 international Umar Sadiq.
The six foot three striker will remain on loan at Rangers for the whole of the 2018-2019 campaign.
Sadiq admitted that he could not turn down Rangers after he was approached by England legend Steven Gerrard, and confessed that he has been likened to former Super Eagles star Nwankwo Kanu and ex-Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor in his homeland.
He told Rangers TV : ”I don’t like to say anything about myself but I am a hardworking player who always wants to help the team.
”I am just myself, even though in Nigeria I am compared to the legend Kanu and Emmanuel Adebayor. It is an honour when someone talks about Adebayor or Kanu next to me.
”In football you never know what is going to happen but hard work pays and with the work I am going to do here I think I will be successful.”
Since joining Roma from Spezia in 2016, Umar Sadiq has been farmed out on loan to Bologna, Torino and NAC Breda.
