Manchester United have told Zinedine Zidane to reject all job offers as Jose Mourinho continues to hang on to his position by a thread, reports claim. The Red Devils manager received a much needed reprieve as his struggling side fought back from 2-0 down to beat Newcastle at Old Trafford and it’s thought he will avoid the sack for the time being. However, United bosses aren’t convinced the Portuguese will turn things around and have asked Zidane to refuse all approaches for his services as they look to appoint him as their new manager. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the board used a similar tactic to keep Mourinho on standby while Louis van Gaal fought for his job, with the Dutchman eventually being sacked after winning the FA Cup.
And they are now preparing to hire the former Real Madrid manager, according to the Mirror. Zidane has already begun learning English and is compiling an exciting list of potential signings. Club chiefs believe he would lift the atmosphere at the club, with star man Paul Pogba particularly keen to play under the French World Cup winner.
