SECURITY: 742 CONSTABLES PASS OUT FROM LAGOS POLICE COLLEGE, TRAINING SCHOOL

The Nigerian Police Force on Thursday, passed out a total of 742 Police Constables from the 2021 batch of 10,000 recruits from four premiere Police Colleges and 12 Training Schools across the Country as part of its efforts to address the lingering Manpower gap in the force.
The 742 recruits from Lagos, Ogun and Osun states which comprised of 535 males and 205 female graduated into constables at the 2021 passing out parade which held at the Police College in Lagos.
The Police Constables who had undergone six months of intensive and rigorous training in basic, intermediate and advanced police studies were engaged in physical, exerting and intellectually challenging training activities which was carefully designed to transit the recruits from civilians to professional Police officers with the right orientation to meet the challenges of policing an increasingly democratic and rule of law driven nation.
According to Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector General of Police, who was ably represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, the recruitment and training of 10,000 constables annually for over three years is a representation of another huge step in the drive by the Federal Government to change the narrative of Policing in Nigeria, with a renewed capacity and commitment to attain its internal security mandate.
While congratulating the new graduands and their families, he stated that the graduating recruit constables will be deployed to complement officers on the forthcoming election security duties across the nation in a bid to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process noting that with the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari, the recruits will be posted back to their various Local Government Areas in other to further entrench the Policing Strategy of the Federal Government towards addressing communal crimes in their respective areas of purview.
He reminded the new Constables that they are coming into a reformed Police Force, that is increasingly equipped, well-focused and properly oriented to take war against crime.
“I wish to remind you that you are coming into a reformed Police Force that is experiencing an ethical rebirth, a force that is increasingly equipped, well-focused and properly oriented to take the war against crimes to the fortress of criminal elements that are bent on threatening our shared values for peace, security and liberty.” He said.
The IGP also, assured all Citizens that a new police, which is adequately imbibed with courage, servitude and compassion is being involved with a renewed vigor to perform statutory duties in the enforcement of law and order, as well as protection of lives and properties.
Meanwhile, Babatunde Kokumo, stated that there has been improvement in the quality of training offered to the constables to ensure they function optimally in their designated areas of primary assignment.
He advised the members of the public, to cooperate maximally with the new Police Constables who have received trainings to function perfectly and well in the various communities that they have been posted to serve.
” What was seen today is increasing the numeric aspect and of course, the quality from the various Police Training Institutions. they have gone through adequate training enough to make them function properly, diligently, and for them to e able to show enough professional competence in the Various communities they will serve.”
” We do not have any fear as to the professional competence of those we are turning out because, they have the capacity, ability to display all those things that have been inculcated for them to function and serve the people well.”
While reacting to the recent murder of Lagos lawyer , Omobolanle Raheem, the DIG says the suspect is currently in incarceration with the IGP giving clear directives that the investigation be concluded speedily.
However, the former Assistant General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who was also at the event, while congratulating the Constables, said that the recruitment will increase feasibility of policing ahead of the forth-coming elections.
