On Monday, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered operatives to track down and arrest the sponsors and killers of the policemen involved in the recent procession by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, commonly known as the Shiāite.
The police reported on Sunday that Shiāite members attacked its personnel during their procession, resulting in the deaths of two police officers and three others who were unconscious in the hospital.

In a statement issued by the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, the IG condemned the killing of police officers while on duty, stating that āthose who murdered these policemen have murdered peace.ā
