LAGOS FARMER ARRESTED FOR DEFILEMENT OF OWN DAUGHTER, NEIGHBOUR’S DAUGHTER
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have commenced investigations into allegations of defilement against a 70-year-old farmer, Bashiru Abiodun.
Abiodun, who lives at No. 26, Papa-Ado Street in the Agbowa community of Lagos State, was arrested on August 29, 2024, by the Agbowa-Ejirin division of the community for defiling his 14-year-old daughter.
According to his wife, who is also the victim’s mother, Mrs. Abiodun, “My daughter told me that her father had been sexually abusing her before I caught him defiling our daughter.”
Explaining further, Mrs Abiodun said after she confronted her husband accusing him of defiling their daughter, it resulted into argument and animosity from him.
“In order to suppress the issue and render me and the victim more vulnerable, he put his only house for sale and collected part payment from the buyer. He then relocated and went to live in Itu Kosomi community.
“My husband believes selling the house will serve as punishment for us to leave him alone and not to accuse him of his crime. At the police station, a member of our community alleged that my husband also defiled his first daughter from his first wife who is now married.”
The victim (name withheld) stated, “My father occasionally had carnal knowledge of me.”
